THE TRAVEL CLUB   was established in 1994 to expand our students knowledge of geography, history, and provide them with an enriched global understanding of the world around us.  Our mission has been to offer students a personal and memorable experience visiting places that  most students only have the opportunity to read about in their textbooks.

Over the past 25 years, we have stood tall on The North Bridge in Concord, where “The shot heard 'round the world” was fired.  We’ve strolled across The Lexington Battle Green where Captain Parker commanded: “Stand your ground!, If it’s war they want, let it begin here!” we  retraced the steps of Paul Revere from the Old North Church where he began his infamous  “Midnight Ride”.   Our students have visited Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace, climbed the Eiffel tower, and toured the Palace of Versailles, home to Louis  XVI, Napoleon Bonaparte, and the treaty of Versailles, which officially ended W.W.I.

We have crossed the International Date Line, made it south of the Equator to the land Down Under chasing kangaroos and playing with Koalas.  We’ve climbed Diamond Head on Waikiki Beach, and  then stood in silence on the war memorial overlooking the now entombed USS Arizona, which lies at rest in Pearl Harbor with her 1,100 crew members.  December 7, 1941 was a day that would live in infamy, but June 20, 2007 will also be implanted on the minds of our students and parents as we learned that freedom comes with a price and sometimes that price is the ultimate sacrifice.

Italia isn one of our favorite destinations as we have visited Juliet’s balcony in Verona, ventured into the German speaking region of the Italian Alps, climbed the 17° past vertical leaning Tower of Pisa, and gazed upon the magnificent rolling hills of Tuscany.  We traveled the canals of Venice, stood in awe under Michelangelo's paintings in the Sistine Chapel, and walked where gladiators and lions once ruled the Roman Coliseum.  We got our feet wet while we ate gelato at the Italian Riviera, and then spent time exploring Florence, the birth place of the Renaissance.

We have traced the Von Trapp’s through Salzburg, Enjoyed pretzels, brats, and schnitzel in Munich, toured the Neuschwanstein Castle, Kissed the Blarney Stone in Ireland, Rode Camels in Morocco, stood high on the Rock of Gibraltar, journeyed to the top of the Acropolis in Athens, and witnessed the spectacular sunset in Santorini.

This year we will embark on the Fjords of Norway, visit the castles of Denmark, and take a ride on the Flam Railway, as we visit Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

Ciao
